Man, Eowyn is such a great character. Mirando Otto's portrayal was stellar. Aragorn did her dirty, but she still suited up and got the job done (meaning: she killed the friggin Witch-King). "I am no man". Iconic.
Interesting. This was one of the only casting choices that I felt less than pleased with after finishing the books. Cody asked who I would have cast instead and after thinking a WHILE to try and come up with someone who would have been the right age at the time of filming, I would have liked to see Rosamund Pike try it.
I have no argument for you. Pike would have killed it just as well, I imagine. I have yet to see her in something where she didn't nail the assignment. Still, tho, I think the potential to be annoyed by Eowyn would have been far greater (in the films) if Miranda Otta hadn't played her. The scene where she tells Aragorn she fears a cage is top tier. And any of her scenes with Bernard Hill's Theoden.
I would definitely agree that that scene with Aragorn is maybe her best performance and she had great chemistry with Theoden. But I feel that I DO get a little annoyed with Otto's Éowyn which is why I would have liked to see someone else in the role. 🤷🏼♀️
in the books, he didn’t lead her on. in the films, one could forgive her for reading mutual attraction. tho I do agree when it’s time to turn her down Aragorn is very kind and gentle. but the eye shenanigans that led her to that moment?? he was in on that full stop (and how could he not? she was fiery and beautiful. nobody’s fault).
