Happy New Year!
Time for clean slates and fresh book lists. This is my third year making myself an official book list, and this will be my shortest starting list to date. My goal for this year is 12 books--a book a month. If you've been tracking this little corner of cyberspace since the beginning, you may remember that I only completed 13 books in 2015 which has led me to create a more manageable list for this brand new year. As always, I hope to exceed my official goal, and I do have a secret goal in mind, but you'll never know what it is unless I actually meet it by the end of the year.
Anyway, let's get this train a-rollin'! Here's my 2017 book list:
John Adams : David McCullough
Surprised By Joy : C.S. Lewis
The Hiding Place : Corrie Ten Boom
Hamlet : Shakespeare
The Taming of the Shrew : Shakespeare
The Three Musketeers : Dumas
Tess of the d'Urbervilles : Thomas Hardy
Agnes Grey : Anne Bronte
Jo's Boys : Louisa May Alcott
Peter Pan : J.M. Barrie
Salty Kisses : Robin Jones Gunn
Sunset Lullaby : Robin Jones Gunn
For any one who may be interested, I also intend to read through the King James Version of the Bible this year. (Hence, the shorter list.) I'm really looking forward to all the books on my list this year.
Anything special you're planning to read this year? Have you made any New Years resolutions? I'd love to hear about your book lists or goals for the year down in those comments. Happy Reading!
2017 Book List:
ReplyDeleteMacArthur 'Drawing Near' Devotional Bible
Mark of the Lion Series by Francine Rivers
Lineage of Grace Series by Francine Rivers
Let Me Be A Woman by Elisabeth Elliot
31 Ways to Love and Encourage Him by Alyssa Bethke
I want a biography, one that is not super long but still good and interesting. Any suggestions?
Also, if I fully complete this entire list...I will be 100% surprised. Haha
DeleteDid you ever end up reading Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand? That is a GREAT biography. I would definitely recommend that one. Are you planning to do a straight-through reading plan for your devotional Bible or does it have its own reading plan in it? Great list. Mark of the Lion and Lineage of Grace are some of my favorite Francine Rivers books. :)
DeleteThe devotional Bible is already set up for a daily reading for the entire year. It is dated and has the scripture reading grouped on the day, so everything is right there. No jumping around. I think I'm going to love it!
DeleteAdam read Unbroken, but we borrowed it and gave it back. I'll try to get that one from the Library!
Yeah, we borrowed that one and gave it back too or else I'd totally lend it to you.
DeleteSome overlap between us! I'm going to read Wuthering Heights, so I'm curious about Agnes Grey. I think they were side by side at the library. I started Little Men last year, but I haven't gotten very far yet. The Three Musketeers and John Adams are on my list as well.
ReplyDeleteMy total list is 18 books, which may be a bit ambitious. At least two of the history books are really long - At Dawn We Slept (Pearl Harbor) and Crucible of War (French and Indian War). We'll see how it goes!
I hope you enjoy Wuthering Heights. It's pretty dark and not as wonderful as Jane Eyre, but I like the Bronte sisters. :) I'm looking forward to Agnes Grey. I've never read it before.
DeleteWe'll have to compare notes on The Three Musketeers and John Adams!

DeleteI think I'd like to read Peter Pan with you! Do you already have the book? How long is it?
ReplyDeleteOf course you pick the book I'm reading first! Haha! In the picture it's the second book from the left. I'm 6 chapters in and it is charming. 17 chapters total; 191 pages, I think. :)
