A Tuesday Confession

My husband and I listen to episodes of Adventures in Odyssey every night when we go to bed.
We've done this pretty much ever since we got married.
He usually falls asleep less than 4 minutes into the first episode we turn on.
But I sometimes am up past midnight listening and playing Solitaire.
Does this mean I'm 10?
Will I ever grow up?
Do you have any strange night-time rituals?

  1. How does he fall asleep?? Doesn't he need to know what happens in the episode? I almost find myself incapable of sleeping until whatever situation is resolved...I need closure before sleep.

    1. Yeah, well he has several of them pretty much totally memorized so we'll usually start with one of those and then once he falls asleep, I change it to whatever one I want to listen to.

    2. This is very interesting.... I can think of worse things than listening to Adventures in Odyssey.

  2. I tried to leave a comment on here a few minutes ago via my phone, but it went crazy and erased everything I had diligently written. I mean, yes, mobile devices have come a long way, but I still prefer doing lots of things on a desktop/laptop computer, you know what I mean? Typing using a keyboard is just soooo much faster.

Anyway, what I was TRYING to say is that I wish I had a nighttime ritual. When I can't fall asleep, I stay up thinking about bills to pay or cleaning to do, which stresses me out even more. Also, sometimes, I think "I need to wake up early in the morning and take a shower," but then I can't fall asleep, so then I wonder, "Should I just get up and take a shower now, or should I wait until the morning?" Either way, it sucks when that alarm clock eventually goes off.

...What was I talking about? Oh yeah, nighttime rituals. I used to have an instrumental playlist on my laptop I would play when I could fall asleep, but that was when I didn't have a bedside companion who doesn't like music to be playing when he's trying to sleep. Sad day :(

    1. LOL! Your comment is making me laugh so hard! Sad that you guys are opposites about wanting ambient noise vs. wanting silence. Headphones?

    2. I would, but the only kind I would want to use are earbuds and they hurt after awhile and sometimes sleeping with them can ruin them :( Plus, I don't have that playlist anymore, because MY IPOD IS GONE FOREVERRRRRR. So sad.
